“My dad taught me it’s good to know this job’s about self-satisfaction. You have to be able to look in the mirror every day and know you’ve done a good job, he said. But every once in awhile, you’ll get a thank you and he said and then it makes all the more difference,” said Sarasota Police Chief, Bernadette DiPino.
At Michael’s on East, we love and appreciate our men and women in blue and decided to team up with Sarasota Ford’s 1 Community 1 Team project to take our “thank you” to the next level.
Last month, our Michael’s On East team had the pleasure of providing catering to the entire Sarasota Police Department. Michael’s On East Executive Chef, Jamil Pineda and his team prepared a delicious meal for the hardworking officers to enjoy. Michael Klauber and Phil Mancini, co-proprietors of Michaels on East, greeted and served the officers as they arrived. Our team prepared a 1 ½ pound Maine Lobster and a 14-ounce New York Strip Steak for each officer with an entire buffet of side dishes to choose from including potatoes, fresh vegetables, salad, cornbread, and more. The meal had a sweet ending with homemade ice cream sandwiches from Michael’s On East and a stunning cake from Cakes by Ron. Michael and Phil made sure to walk from table to table to let the officers know how they are appreciated and thanked them for putting their lives on the line for our Sarasota community.
From 1980 to 2018, 132 officers were killed in Sarasota County while fearlessly protecting our community. Michaels on East is an organization dedicated to supporting our community whenever possible. Our team was honored to support this event to celebrate the past and current officers who serve our community.
Sarasota Police Chief, Bernadette DiPino said, “Somebody in our community recognized the hard work that our officers do every single day and gave us a really special celebration in honor of us, and that was the thank you that my dad was talking about all those years ago.”
