Michael’s Culinary Team has been inspired by Provence, France, and a special exhibition at Selby Gardens: “Marc Chagall, Flowers, and the French Riviera: The Color of Dreams.”
Beginning today and continuing into the summer, the culinary team at Michael’s On East will celebrate the romance, cuisine and art of the south of France and the French Rivera.
In the Restaurant this month at Michael’s On East, guests are invited to enjoy lunch and dinner menus inspired by a special exhibition at Selby Gardens, Marc Chagall, Flowers, and the French Riviera: The Color of Dreams which opens to the public on Feb. 12. When planning February’s “Epicurean Adventure” theme, the Michael’s culinary team derived inspiration—and even specific recipes—from the esteemed La Colombe d’Or restaurant in St. Paul de Vence, where world-renowned artists, including Chagall, would dine and display their works of art. Michael’s On East guests are invited to enjoy a two-course lunch ($18.95) or three-course dinner ($34.95) as part of the Provence Epicurean Adventure, today, Feb. 1 through Feb. 28, 2017, at the fine dining restaurant. Michael’s On East serves as Selby Gardens’ exclusive culinary partner, so remarkable French delicacies will also be featured at the Selby House Café by Michael’s On East and throughout many community events through this special six-month exhibition. A limited-time menu will debut on Feb. 12 featuring a Spinach & Gruyère Quiche, Potato & Leek Soup, Croque Monsieur Panini and Tarte Aux Pommes. Located within the historic Selby House on-premise at Selby Gardens, the café is open to Gardens visitors and members.
“We know how hard the Selby Gardens team worked to bring this exhibition to Sarasota, so we wanted to join in the ‘Chagall’ celebration,” said Michael’s On East Co-Proprietor Michael Klauber who has personally spent considerable time in France, including Provence and the French Riviera. His personal experiences at La Colombe d’Or in St. Paul de Vence were the genesis of the concepts the Michael’s team is creating this month to honor their partnership with Selby Gardens. “In the Restaurant, we’ll be offering sophisticated Provencal cuisine in addition to the classic dishes from the south of France at our café at Selby Gardens. You can bet our Michael’s Wine Cellar team will continue offering some remarkable French wines as well!”
Michael’s Wine Cellar will feature more than a dozen French wines as part of its February Open House Wine Tasting, 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017. Admission is $10 per person. Guests are invited to register online in advance at www.michaelswinecellar.com or simply pay at the door.
Prendre plaisir! (Enjoy!)
